About Our Pastor at Carpenter's House Church
Pastor Scott Ghan, B.A., M.Div., Ph.D., D.D.
Pastor Scott Ghan is the founder and pastor at Carpenter's House Church in Tulum, QR. He has been doing ministry work full-time for 39 years. Upon answering the call to ministry at 14 years old, he pursued the necessary preparation and even became the youngest seminary graduate in his class at Oral Roberts School of Theology. He then pursued every ministry opportunity God set before him.
Ministry Opportunities Pursued
Pastor Scott Ghan served as an Elder in the United Methodist Church until 1999, when he resigned to establish Powerdersville Community Church to reach individuals who were truly lost and bring Jesus into their hearts. This ministry took him to the streets, drug rehab centers, and every other place traditional churches avoided when searching for members. The validity of his ministry has been proven by signs, wonders, and life changes as people left their old ways to follow Jesus.
He and his wife, Annette, have enjoyed a music ministry as charting contemporary Christian artists. Although they have left behind a busy concert and radio ministry, Pastor Scott Ghan still finds himself coming out with fresh songs as the Holy Spirit continues to guide him.

Brief Retirement and Prompt Return to Calling
In 2015, Pastor Scott Ghan retired briefly and pursued cave diving in the Riviera Maya. But a few months later, he accepted the call to be the pastor of Lighthouse Church of Tulum, where he became fast friends with Pastor Angel Fernandez of Casa de Dios. Together, he and Pastor Angel have reached the children of Tulum, have started churches in Mayan villages where the Gospel has never been heard before, and have been a blessing to both English and Spanish speakers in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Contracting COVID and Its Aftermath
In the Fall of 2021, Pastor Scott Ghan contracted Long COVID and then pneumonia. The doctors at Costamed Hospital confirmed his case was the most severe in all of Tulum during the pandemic. They still wonder to this day, "Why did this man live? He should be dead." During the ordeal, Pastor Scott Ghan experienced two life-changing visions of Heaven and the life that awaits us after the current one. He had to venture to his life's lowest point to witness his highest experience. However, the lingering effects of COVID-19 brain fog made it necessary for him to resign his position as pastor.
His Recovery Journey and Founding of Carpenter’s House Church
After learning to read again and regaining other skills he had lost, Pastor Scott Ghan answered God's call to establish Carpenter's House Church, which is currently the only English-speaking nondenominational church in Tulum. He and Pastor Angel also renewed and strengthened their partnership in ministry.
Pastor Scott Ghan and Carpenter's House Church highly encourage you to pray for miracles, salvation, and the increase of this ministry, not for the sake of any individual, but for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
